2 kids charred in W. Delhi blaze
Two minors were charred to death while their mother is critical at the Safdarjung Hospital after a fire broke out at their Ranhola residence in west Delhi on Wednesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Akash, 4, and Khushi, 5, while their mother Veena, 32, has been admitted with 85 per cent burn injuries at Safdarjung Hospital, said the police. The fire is suspected to have been caused due to leakage in gas cylinder on Wednesday night when the trio were sleeping. The incident came to light on Thursday morning when the residents saw smoke billowing from the house and alerted the fire services at around 7 am.
“One fire engine was rushed to the site. It took us 20 minutes to clear the site,” a fire official said. A police team also arrived and the trio were taken to Safdarjung Hospital where Akash and Khushi were declared brought dead while Veena is battling for her life. Veena’s husband, Mukesh Kumar, was not present in the house at the time of the incident.
