2 killed for resisting robbery attempts

A 29-year-old software engineer and a Haryana-based jeweller were killed while another man was injured in separate incidents when they resisted robbery attempts by unidentified gangs of criminals on a prowl in the city.

In the first incident, the police said the deceased, identified as Vikek, who was working as a software engineer in Noida, was left bleeding to death by unidentified men in the Janakpuri area of west Delhi late on Tuesday night. Vivek was returning after dinner at his sister’s residence in Janakpuri. The police said Vikek was stabbed at around 9.30 pm when he resisted a robbery attempt.
In the second incident, a Haryana-based jeweller, Ram Prakash, 40, was robbed before being stabbed and shot to death by unidentified assailants on a footover bridge near Sadar Bazar railway station on Wednesday afternoon.
The railway police officials said Prakash was coming out of the railway station when the assailants attacked him near a footover bridge. Prakash had come to Delhi from Haryana’s Jind area by Fizorpur Janta Express for purchasing some jewellery items.
Additional deputy commissioner of police (railways) B.S. Gujjar said, “At around 2 pm, four assailants waiting near a footover bridge signalled him to stop and part with his bag in which cash and jewellery was kept. The victim resisted, following which he was stabbed with a sharp weapon, before being shot.”
In the third incident in Kamla Market area of central Delhi where a 32-year-old executive working with a tour and travel agency in Paharganj was shot at and robbed of cash by three assailants. The victim, Kuldip, was going to collect cash from Connaught Place area when the assailants travelling on a motorbike intercepted him near Ajmeri Gate chowk and asked him to hand over the cash. When he resisted, one of the assailants shot a fire t him and escaped with the bag containing cash,” the police said.
