24-yr man found dead in S. Delhi
A 24-year-old youth missing since Tuesday was found dead in a well in Mehrauli, south Delhi. The police suspects it to be a case of suicide. The deceased has been identified as Jitender, a resident of Islam Colony in Mehrauli, the police said.
Jitender’s family members told the police that he was unwell since six days and had gone missing on December 28. A missing complaint was registered at the Mehrauli police station.
“On Thursday at around 12.30 pm, some children were playing when they spotted a body in a dry well and alerted elders. A PCR call was made and the body was taken out and identified as that of Jitender following which his father, Kamal Singh, was informed,” a senior police official said.
Kamal identified his son’s body after which it was sent for post-mortem to AIIMS mortuary.
“The deceased was apparently depressed over his falling health and committed suicide. No external injury marks were found on the body and any foul play in the matter is ruled out. A case has been registered and investigations are on,” the official said.
