3 arrested for bid to sell 12-yr girl
A 40-year-old woman and her two accomplices were arrested here for allegedly kidnapping a 12-year-old girl to sell her for `1 lakh to a driver in MP for marriage. The incident has been reported from Anand Parbat area of Central Delhi.
Earlier, a gang was busted in Inderpuri area of Southwest Delhi allegedly involved in selling minor girls to bachelors for `1 lakh in UP, MP and Haryana.
A police source close to the investigation said that the police also have booked the two male accused under rape charges as they developed physical relations with the victim.
The police said the accused, identified as Pushpa, Rajesh Lala and Gulab, were arrested from Baba Faridpuri Colony in Anand Parbat area on Thursday and the victim was rescued from their clutches.
“The parents of the victim had got an FIR of her missing registered few days ago. The police immediately lodged an FIR and launched investigation. The investigating officers got a tip-off that she was kidnapped by Pushpa. A raid was conducted at her hideout and the girl was rescued,” said the police official.
The official said the girl told the police that Rajesh and Gulab, who live in the area, befriended her and then developed physical relations with her. They then introduced her to Pushpa.
“Pushpa revealed that she struck a deal with a driver who lives in MP to arrange a girl for his marriage. She demanded `1 lakh for the girl,” said the police source, adding that sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been used against the accused in the FIR.
