3 jailed for life for road rage killing
Additional sessions judge (ASJ) Kamini Lau has awarded rigorous life imprisonment to three brothers for killing a man in a road rage and also sentenced a witness one month in jail for perjury.
While convicting Dinesh, Mukesh and Rajesh, the ASJ said, “It is evident that the murder of deceased Ashok was committed in cold blood without there being any instigation, only because he objected to the rash and negligent driving and asked convict Mukesh to drive carefully.”
The court also sentenced Ravinder Kumar to one month in prison along with a fine of Rs 500 for making false statement before the court to save the offenders.
“The witnesses are eyes and ears of the court and are extremely important subjects of the criminal justice system. Unscrupulous litigants are found daily resorting to utter blatant falsehood in the courts which has to some extent resulted in polluting the judicial system. Any attempt by a witness to divert the course of justice is required to be dealt with sternly,” the court said.

DUAC seeks registrar reply on parking

The Delhi Urban Arts Commission has asked the high court registrar to explain as to why work on the multi-level automated underground parking has not been stopped despite its instructions in this regard. The commission has been opposed to the construction of the parking lot as it was too close to an ancient monument. The explanation has been asked for after the DUAC, during a recent meeting, noted that work was going on despite assurance from the registrar that it will be stopped.
