31 injured in separate accidents
At least 31 people were injured, 12 critically, in three separate road accidents reported from different parts of the city in the last 24 hours.
In the first accident in West Delhi’s Mundka area, 26 persons were injured when a Blueline bus on route number 926 (Old Delhi and Tigri Border) turned turtle after ramming into a Metro pillar early on Monday morning. There were around 30 passengers in the bus.
The bus driver Dinesh lost control over the vehicle and rammed it into the Metro pillar 411. “The impact of the hit was such that the bus overturned on the road. The injured passengers as well as the driver were immediately rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital where condition of at least 12 of them, including the driver, is reported to be serious,” said a police official.
The second accident occurred at Panchkuian Road area of East Paharganj, where four persons sustained injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a juice shop. The accident occurred around 4 am on Monday and the victims were sleeping inside the juice shop. The injured were identified as Prasoon, 14, Bari Ahmed, 22, Mohammad Sharifa, 18, and Deepak, 16. The victims were immediately taken to Lady Hardinge hospital from where they were discharged after preliminary treatment. The truck driver, identified as Manoj, was under the influence of alcohol and the police has booked him for rash and drunken driving. In the third accident a 30-year-old autorickshaw driver was injured after a private water tanker hit his vehicle and dragged it up to 20 metres in the Kamla Market area in central district late on Sunday night. The accident took place around midnight and the victim has been identified as Mahipal. He was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital from where he was discharged on Monday afternoon.
