4 held for running fake job racket
The police arrested four youth, including two MBA and PG students, for allegedly duping several job aspirants.
The accused arrested have been identified as Abhay Kumar, an MBA student, Sudhir, a postgraduation student, Madhuresh, who runs a consultancy in Noida, and Devender a sales agent for a company named Addigo.
The accused were arrested after a mobile and Internet service provider company complained that some persons are cheating people by organising fake interviews and providing them fake appointment letters.
“The company came to know about this vicious circle when one day some IT professionals landed at their office in Okhla with appointment letters for different jobs in the company. The company was shocked to find that all of them have been interviewed in the office itself. The victims told them that they paid `35,000 each for the job,” said ACP (southeast) Ajay Chaudhry.
They contacted the victims through placement agencies and called them for a walk-in interview.
“After confirming that the victims have brought the money, they used to take them inside the company premises. At the gate, they posed themselves as sales executives and gained access,” Mr Chaudhry said.
Thereafter, with the help of an employee of the company, who was authorised to sell mobile connections, organised the interviews in the conference hall.
“After the interview, the victims were handed an appointment letter. The letter was given for a date 10-15 days away. The accused were apprehended from Greater Noida after technical surveillance,” he said.
