4 held for trying to ‘trap’ trader
The Delhi police has on Sunday arrested four persons, including a 21-year-old woman and a factory owner, for allegedly attempting to extort Rs 30 lakh from a businessman after a honey-trap. The accused have been identified as Rahul Goel (24), who owns a plastic pipe manufacturing factory, his cousin Ashish Aggarwal (26), Vinod Arora (42) and the woman whose identity has been protected.
The arrests came following investigations into a complaint filed by the young businessman, who owns a plastic granule factory in Mangolpuri Industrial Area. “He was lured by the girl to a hotel and videographed inside a hotel room. The girl and her associates demanded Rs 30 lakh not to make the video public,” additional commissioner of police (crime) Neeraj Thakur stated. Goel had lost money in “bad investments” and betting on cricket matches.
“Goel knew the girl for the past few years. He also roped in Aggarwal and they hatched a plan to entrap the victim,” said the police. They started meeting regularly and within a week, she managed to lure the victim to a hotel in Prashant Vihar. She used the spy camera to secretly videograph them together,” said the investigating officers.
