4 juveniles held for attack on 74-yr grain merchant
Four juveniles were held for allegedly trying to kill a 74-year-old businessman in Maurya Enclave area of northwest Delhi. The juveniles attacked the victim when he scolded them for creating nuisance in the park.
A senior police official said the victim, identified as Hari Kishan Gupta, a grain merchant, lives in the area with his family and runs his office from Naya Bazar area in Chandni Chowk.
“He had gone to the park for morning walk. He saw four juveniles creating nuisance in the park. When he tried to persuade them not to make noise in the park, they had an argument with him. The argument got heated up and in a fit of rage, the four picked up a wooden stick and thrashed him badly. Hari Kishan received injuries in his head and all over the body. The accused fled from the spot leaving the victim in a pool of blood,” said the police official.
The police was informed and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is stated to be critical.
The police lodged an FIR under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC and started investigations. The police conducted a raid following a tip-off and apprehended all the four juveniles.
They were sent to child observation house on Wednesday.
