4 more DU depts say no to semesters
Four more departments of the Delhi University have registered their dissent against the semester system. The departments of Germanic and romance studies, geography, history and sociology have voiced disagreement over the semester system after the English department passed a resolution rejecting the semester system.
The DU authorities have meanwhile chided the heads of the colleges and departments for not being serious in putting the semester system in place.
“It was emphasised that the university needs to move into a semester mode of teaching and examination uniformly across all undergraduate programmes of study ... It is thus exceedingly disappointing that your committee of courses has not bothered to keep the interests of the students in mind and indicated a desire to delay implementation of the semester mode by at least a year,” said the registrar in a strongly-worded letter to the department heads.
