4 road cave-ins in a single day
The city roads are refusing to hold up after heavy monsoon rains as four more cave-ins were reported over the last 24 hours. A 15-foot long crater was formed when the road connecting ISBT to Shahdara caved in at Seelampur on Tuesday at around 2 pm. “A part of the road collapsed in adjoining nullah, which led to a 15-foot long crater,” a senior police official said.
In the second incident, a part of Rao Tula Ram Marg caved in near Moti Bagh flyover on Monday night.
The third incident was reported from near Sheeshganj Gurdwara in Chandni Chowk where an RBI van carrying `62.5 crores cash besides gold coins got stuck in the crater when the road caved in near the cycle market at around 1 pm.
The fourth incident took place on Baba Kharak Singh Marg-Ashoka Road junction on Tuesday. Police officials said a damaged sewerage line caused seepage of water into the road leading to road cave in.
