400 cops from NCR states for Games?
Around 400 police personnel from the neighbouring states might be deployed with the Delhi police for the Commonwealth Games security. The order will be issued if the next Cabinet meeting of the Delhi government approves the police personnel deputation in the city.
So far, it is believed that the policemen will arrive from the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, said the city government officials. “It the deputation is approved then the policemen will reach Delhi in the first week of September and will undergo a training programme for the Games security,” said a Delhi government official.
Meanwhile, the senior Delhi police officers have said that the city police is not short of staff. “The policemen from neighbouring states will only be called in for extra security during the Games,” said a senior Delhi police officer.
Also the Delhi Police will hire 2,000 vehicles during the Games for various jobs, like escorting sportsmen and deploying quick response teams. The vehicles will include 1,200 cars, SUVs and MUVs and 630 buses.
