42-year-old murdered by servant

A 42-year-old woman was strangulated by her domestic help, who later slit her throat and escaped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs from an outer Delhi residence on Monday night.

The police said the deceased Promila Shukla, a housewife, was murdered by her domestic help identified as Karan, 18, a native of West Bengal, who was placed at 21/118, Sector 7, Rohini residence of the victim by a private placement agency few days ago. After killing her, the accused wrapped her body in a bedsheet and kept it behind a sofa. He escaped with cash and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The incident came to light when her son, Girwar Shukla, 22, woke up and started looking for her.
“Girwar was locked on the second floor of the house by the accused before fleeing. He then made a call to his neighbours to unlock the door. He searched for her on the ground floor where he found her body wrapped in a bedsheet behind a sofa,” a senior police official said.
