45 errant DJB contractors face action
The Delhi Jal Board has initiated the process of blacklisting at least 45 contractors who allegedly failed to execute important projects on time and also indulged in illegal practices.
According to sources, the decision to blacklist contractors has been taken on the basis of findings of DJB’s internal probe. The process to issue notices to the contractors will start very soon, sources said.
“DJB’s internal probe has identified at least 45 non-performing contractors. The board has prepared a list of such contractors. The list also includes those contractors who have been recently booked by the CBI,” sources further said.
DJB is also planning to take departmental action against its officials who connived with the contractors, sources added.
The CBI recently registered four cases against 10 DJB officials and five private contractors over alleged irregularities in the award of tubewell installation contracts worth `1.35 crore in the city.
