5 held for abducting, killing two
An engineering student Nikesh, 17, and his friend Yash, 14, were kidnapped by five persons, who demanded `1.5 crores ransom and murdered them in the fear of getting caught.
The accused, Rahul Gupta, 19, Hari Singh, 44, Usman Khan, 22, Radhey Shyam, 32, and Dinesh Kumar, 27 have been arrested by special operations squad of Delhi police. Dinesh and Usman hatched the plan to kidnap the victims and roped in Rahul after promising him a share in ransom. “Rahul kidnapped Yash from his school at Dwarka and took him to Kasganj, UP, on September 12. He was strangulated since he knew Rahul. The accused made ransom calls to his family a week after killing him,” a police official said.
Rahul is an ex-student of Navjivan Academy where Yash was studying and used to go to school with him in the same bus. “Rahul later lured Nikesh who agreed to accompany him and made a ransom call to his father demanding `50 lakhs for his release. Nikesh’s family struck a deal with the kidnappers and paid `2.5 lakhs on October 9 but their son was not released,” the official said.
The body of Nikesh has been recovered but that of Yash is yet to be traced. The police said Rahul had chosen one more boy as his next target.
