A special team of the Delhi police on Sunday arrested five men, including a hotel management student, for allegedly committing murders and robberies. The accused were arrested from Najafgarh area. The accused, who are natives of Sonepat, Haryana, are alleged to have recently shot dead a man who had a property dispute with them, said the police.
The five accused, identified as Virender, 20, a hotel management student, Manoj, 19, Sandeep, 21, Sanjay, 23, and Naveen, 24, were apprehended when they assembled at a DDA park in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh area to allegedly plan a robbery at a petrol pump, said deputy commissioner of police (west) Sharad Aggarwal.
The DCP further added, “The five men wanted to rob a petrol pump to arrange money for their expenses while running away from their native places out of the reach of the Haryana Police.”
They were allegedly involved in more than 15 cases, including 10 cases of murder and petrol pump robberies, which they committed at Jind, Sonepat, Gohana, Ishrana, Mulana, Murthal and Gannaur in Haryana.
“Their most recent crime was the murder of one Balraj Saini in Sonepat on January 3 over a property dispute one of the gang members was having with the victim,” said the investigating officers.
Virender is doing a course in hotel management while Naveen is running a piggery. Sanjay is an ITI dropout while Manoj and Sandeep are unemployed. Virender was allegedly involved in the Saini murder case as well as that of one Amit Malik last April .
