8 robbers held, `12-crore booty seized
In one of the biggest seizures of stolen goods, the Delhi police with the help of Chandigarh cops recovered goods worth over `12 crores with the arrest of eight men. Police officers said that at least four more people are involved in the robbery but they are on the run.
The officers said that the gang used to wear police uniform during robberies. The arrested include two Class 12 students, one yoga teacher and a conductor amongst others. They were allegedly involved in the heist at Tanishq showroom in Chandigarh on Wednes-day from where they looted the jewellery and a mobile showroom on January 3 from where they took away 1,000 brand new sets worth around `1 crore. Delhi police commissioner, B.K. Gupta said, “Eight persons have been arrested by a joint team of Delhi police and their Chandigarh counterparts within 72 hours of the heist. This is a classic example of perfect coordination between two forces.”
The arrested have been identified as Paras Soni (26), his brother Manav Soni (24), Bhura Qureshi (28), Upender Singh (19), Anuj Kumar (21), Ajay Singh (24), Bhura Tomar (18) and Sonu Raghav (19). Meanwhile, Ali Raja, Umar Duraj, Satinder and Nadeem are absconding.
