95 fresh cases push dengue count to 2,631
The national capital remained in the grip of dengue fever with a whopping 95 fresh cases being reported on Thursday, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease to 2,631.
The MCD said students and working population are most prone to the disease and appealed to the heads of schools, offices and commercial establishments to take adequate precautions.
The dengue outbreak has also raised concern among the countries participating in the Games.
The city has also reported eight chikangunya cases this season. The MCD fears a rise in dengue and malaria cases when water begins to recede around the Games venues.
“Once the water recedes, there is a major possibility that mosquito breeding will multiply at a fast pace and the cases of dengue and malaria can increase,” said Dr N.K. Yadav, medical health official of MCD.
