Abducted boy killed, buried

The decayed body of a 14-year-old boy, who was kidnapped on December 15 following which his abductors had demanded `15 lakhs for his safe release, was exhumed from a BSES storehouse in Karawal Nagar area where he was smothered to death, torched and buried on the same day the kidnapping took place, the police said on Saturday.
The three accused in the heinous murder have been identified as Anil Kumar Sharma alias Shetty, 42, a former class four employee of RBI, who planned the abduction with his associates Manish Sharma alias Pappan, 23, and Nikhil alias Sumit, 26, who allegedly aided Shetty in the execution of crime. All are residents of Karawal Nagar.
The deceased, Vikas alias Golu, a resident of Vivek Vihar, had gone missing on December 15 following which his father Dharam Singh had lodged a missing complaint.
“Dharam Singh used to gamble and had recently lost money to Shetty, which he didn’t pay. On December 15, Shetty lured his son on the pretext of offering him snacks and took him to a BSES storage house in Karawal Nagar where he was joined by Pappan and Sumit,” a senior police official said.
The police said the trio smothered the child to death, poured oil on his body and torched him because Shetty was apprehensive that Golu may reveal his identity to his father and ultimately the police in case he escaped. “They later buried the body inside the storage house, hoping that no one would come to know about it as the place remains unattended for months,” the official said
In the meantime, the three accused kept an eye on the movement of Golu’s father and started making ransom calls for `15 lakhs seven days later for the safe release of his son from different PCO’s of Ghaziabad, Loni, Karawal Nagar, etc. which led the investigators to them.
“The team involved in the investigations is being suitably rewarded,” the official said.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
