Accused thrashed by cops, court seeks ATR
A Delhi court has asked the station house officer (SHO) of the Sabzi Mandi police station to file an action taken report (ATR) after hearing a complaint of an accused. The accused, in his complaint, had alleged that he was illegally taken to a south Delhi area by four-five police officers on the behest of a senior IPS officer and was beaten mercilessly, which caused body injury to him.
Acting on the complaint of Jagmohan, who is an accused in a criminal case, the metropolitan magistrate (MM) Tarun Yogesh asked the SHO Subzi Mandi to file an ATR on May first week, the next date of hearing in the case.
Talking to this newspaper, Amit Kumar, lawyer appearing for Jagmohan, said that his client had on March 22 gone to appear before the Tis Hazari court MM Amit Arora in connection with a criminal case in which he is an accused. As the court had adjourned the matter for 2 pm, he came out of the court. Meanwhile, four-five policemen, who were standing outside, allegedly taken him to the Saket area, where he was badly beaten.
Mr Kumar added that the officials also forced him to give his statement in another case as per their wishes, which was illegal.
Before taking Jagmohan to Saket, the police officials did not even say a word that his client is an accused in another case and an FIR or a criminal complaint has been registered against him. The MLC report of Jagmohan further indicated that he was badly beaten.
