ACP, 29 cops booked for sexual harassment
At least 33 Delhi police personnel, including an ACP, were booked following allegations of sexual harassment against them in a three-year period beginning 2007. The information has been revealed in reply to an RTI query.
A senior Delhi police official said that strict action is taken against policeman accused of sexual harassment. “These are aberrations and not the rule,” said the officer. As per information received for the period from 2007 to 2010 (till September), the officers booked for sexual harassment cases were allegedly involved in offences like molestation, rape with minors, beating up women, forcefully developing illicit relationship while concealing their real identity or writing letters using inappropriate language.
