Aicte releases guidelines to curb ragging
The principal, teachers and other employees may be dismissed if found lackadaisical in handling matters of ragging. As per the new guidelines formed by the All India Council of Technical Education, sloppy handling of ragging case has been deemed criminal.
In a circular issued by AICTE, the teachers and staff on duty, including the principal, will have to face severe action including dismissal if they are found handling a ragging case carelessly. They may be declared incapable of doing their job. The guidelines will be applicable in both the technical institutes and deemed universities from academic session 2012-2013.
In addition to it, the appointment letter of the faculty and staff will have a pre-condition that they will contribute towards curbing ragging. The staff will have to intimate the teachers if they find any senior ragging a junior.
Such action will earn the staff brownie points and an appreciation will be added to their performance record.
