Bank officials face trial for loan on ‘absent’ flat

Two former officials of a PSU bank are to face trial as Special CBI Judge P.S. Teji has framed charges against them for disbursing a home loan of `5 lakhs against a “non-existent” flat in Ghaziabad.
The court said, “A prima facie case is made out against all the accused that they entered into a criminal conspiracy for getting sanctioned a loan of `5 lakhs on the basis of forged and fabricated documents with a view to cheat the bank for a flat which was never in existence.”
The court ordered framing of charges against Prabhat S. Kudwa, the then branch manager of Corporation Bank, Prashant L. Mahale, an official who surveyed the flat and loanee Janardhan P. Tiwari under Prevention of Corruption Act and criminal conspiracy, cheating, giving and accepting gratification and using forged documents as genuine of the IPC.
The FIR alleged that Kudwa, then working as branch manager of Vasundra Enclave branch entered into a criminal conspiracy with Mahale and the loanee Tiwari for disbursal of the loan against a flat at Vaishali.
