Biker throws acid on woman
Two bikers threw acid on a 28-year-old woman in Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi on Friday evening.
The police said the victim, who works in a private company in east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar, was returning home on Friday evening when two unidentified bikers intercepted her near central park in Dilshad Colony, Seemapuri. “One of the assailants took out a water gun and threw colour at her face. The assailants then sped off. The victim felt a burning sensation and soon her face got swollen with blisters,” a senior police official said.
The victim started screaming for help following which pedestrians gathered at the spot and a call was made to the police control room at around 8.30 pm, the police said. The victim was rushed in a PCR van to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital where her condition is stated to be stable.
“It appears that the assailants had mixed acid with the colour that was splashed on the victim. The two accused were not wearing helmets and are probably residents of nearby area. We have recorded the statement of the victim and a police team is working to arrest the accused,” the official said.
Sources said the assailants have been more or less identified and a manhunt is on to nab them. “Personal enmity seems to be the reason behind the incident, though the accused are yet to be questioned. A case has been registered at the Seemapuri police station and further investigations are on,” the official said.
