Bikers attack jeweller’s staff, rob `18 lakhs
Eight unidentified bike-borne assailants robbed `18 lakhs in cash from two men at gun point in north Delhi’s Civil Lines area on Wednesday night.
The incident took place metres away from Raj Niwas, Civil Lines, at around 9.15 pm.
The victims, Monu and Vijay, who work as collection agents for a jeweller, were headed towards the Shastri Nagar residence of their employer after collecting money from Lajpat Rai Market when eight assailants on four motorcycles intercepted their autorickshaw and forced it driver to stop.
“The assailants, who were wearing helmets, took out pistols and asked the duo to part with the bag containing `18 lakhs. When the victims resisted, the assailants threatened them and in fear they handed them the bag,” said a police official.
The duo worked for Mahendra Agarwal, who has jewellery showrooms in Karol Bagh and Naraina. No arrests have been made so far.
