Bikers fire at trader in robbery bid
Bike-borne robbers fired two shots at a businessman when he resisted their robbery attempt in broad daylight on Wednesday in the Karol Bagh area of central Delhi.
The police said the incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when the victim, identified as Sunil Kriplani alias Sonu, who owns a mobile accessories’ shop on P
adam Singh Road, was going to a bank to deposit Rs 3 lakhs. Two unidentified robbers on a Pulsar motorcycle shot twice at him when he resisted their attempt to snatch his bag.
According to the police, Sonu was offering prayers outside Jai Shaktishali Mata Mandir on Padam Singh Road when the assailants appeared. “Sonu was heading towards Axis Bank on his scooter He stopped near the temple and was walking towards it to pay obeisance when the assailants, wearing helmets, tried to snatch his bag containing cash. However, Sonu immediately grabbed his bag under the armpit and screamed for help. Sensing danger, one of the assailants took out a revolver and shot at him,” a senior police official said. The assailants failed to snatch the bag.
Sonu was rushed to a nearby nursing home from where he was shifted to Sir Gangaram hospital. He is stated to be out of danger. The police has registered a case.
