BJP: CM’s family in CWG corruption
The Delhi state BJP on Tuesday alleged involvement of close relative of Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit in the corruption related to the just concluded Commonwealth Games.
Delhi BJP spokesman Vijay Jolly in a statement levelled charges against the chief minister by stating that one of her close relative was appointed as the deputy director general (communications and media) in the Organising Committee headed by Suresh Kalmadi.
“Sheila Dikshit’s family is Bhagidaar (partner) in the Games corruption. The chief minister’s close family member named Mr Vineet K. Dikshit was appointed as the deputy director general (communications & media) in the OC. He is a cousin brother of Vinod Diskhit, the late husband of the chief minister. He is also an uncle of Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit,” Mr Jolly charged in the statement.
He further alleged that Mr Vineet K. Dikshit was appointed on the recommendation of the chief minister in September, 2009 and he worked for more than two years in the OC. “The chief minister now can not escape from her responsibility by starting the blamegame and accuse only the OC for corruption and mismanagement by excluding her own government,” charged Mr Jolly.
The Delhi BJP office bearers met on Sunday and passed a resolution condemning corruption in the Commonwealth Games. “BJP holds Delhi chief minister equally responsible along with OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi for the mess, mismanagement and adverse media publicity due to various charges of financial irregularities,” added Mr Jolly in the statement.
