BJP, Cong take action on accused

BJP president Vijender Gupta said that councillors Satyashwari Joshi, Anita Koli, Ravi Prakash Sharma, Subhash Jain, Ajit Tokas and Manju Gupta have been suspended.
“BJP’s policy is of zero tolerance against corruption and if any concrete proof of corruption against any office-bearer is found that person will not be spared,” Mr Gupta said.
The Delhi Congress also suspended two of its councillors for allegedly demanding bribe for illegal construction.
The Congress has also suspended the two accused councillors Jaishree Pawar of Shahpur Jat and Beena Dhakolia of Ambedkar Nagar ward.
Earlier on Tuesday, a private news channel had aired a sting operation of these councillors in which they allegedly demanded bribe from `4 lakhs to `10 lakhs for illegal construction in their respective areas.
The Delhi BJP, claiming itself to be clean on the corruption front, said that the Congress must take action on the CAG’s report on CWG scam.
“Many cases of corruption have come to light in which Delhi government has been involved but the case of corruption in Commonwealth Games, issuing of provisional certificates to unauthorised colonies and corruption in the privatisation of power distribution have no parallel in the history of independent India,” said Mr Gupta.
