BJP says CAG charges are serious
After being suspended from the Assembly’s monsoon session, the Opposition BJP on Tuesday came down heavily on the government for presenting the CAG report in House on the last day of the monsoon session. The leader of the Opposi-tion Prof. V.K. Malhotra said that the reports reflected that the Delhi government is involved in serious charges.
“The Shunglu Committee on their respective reports on the CWG games are once again reflected in the CAG report that was placed before the House on Monday and repeats the charge that almost all departments of the Delhi government were involved in serious acts of omission and commission in the matter,” Prof. Malhotra said, adding that the report tabled on 5th September in the Delhi Assembly has unmasked the criminal negligence, inefficiency and anti-people policies of the government. After highlighting the corruption during the CWG games, the CAG in its new report has severely castigated almost all departments of the Delhi government and specifically criticised the hospitals and health services, DTC, DSIDC, PWD and the power department.
Slamming all the departments of the government for serious irregularities Prof. Malhotra said that the CAG has exposed the government on power shortage.
“The CAG has totally exposed the Delhi government. According to the CAG demand for power in Delhi has grown by 25.46 per cent whereas power generation has dropped by 26 per cent. The Indraprastha power station has closed down and the Bawana power plant is yet to be commissioned. Private power distribution companies are taking advantage of the situation, juggling their figures and looting the public in Delhi,” he said.
