BJP to seek circle rate hike repeal
A Delhi BJP delegation will meet lieutenant-governor Tejendra Khanna against the hike in the circle rates decided by the city government. The BJP has said that it would tell the lieutenant-governor about the “bungling and irregularity” in increasing the circle rates.
Delhi BJP has demanded that the L-G return the file on the circle rate hike to the city government with objections immediately. “Delhi government had fixed circle rates in Delhi by dividing 2,480 colonies in 10 categories in a resolution submitted to the cabinet in June this year. A committee was formed under the chairmanship of revenue secretary Kuldeep Singh so that it may invite objections from the public. There were difference between ministers on the issue,” said Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta.
There was so much difference that the new circle rates were neither advertised nor objections were invited on it, he added. “In a hurry, chief minister Sheila Dikshit called meeting of the cabinet and increased the circle rates by 100 per cent after dividing the colonies in 8 categories. This time some ministers protested but their opinion was disregarded,’ he said.
