BJP seeks probe into killing, slams CM

A day after the gruesome broad daylight murder of a Delhi University girl student, the BJP on Wednesday called for a high-level probe into the incident. Senior BJP leaders on Tuesday slammed the Union home ministry and the Delhi government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.

The BJP workers led by senior leader and Lok Sabha MP Syed Shahnawaz Hussain and Vijendra Gupta on Tuesday took out a candle march in Naraina village demanding immediate arrest of the murderer of Radhika Tanwar. They demanded resignations of chief minister Sheila Dikshit and Union home minister P. Chidambaram.
In a hard hitting statement, Mr Gupta said that “the capital has become a heaven for criminals and hell for citizens”.
“The lawlessness in the city has been confirmed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s wife, Gursharan Kaur, and chief minister Sheila Dikshit herself. The capital of India is under the control of criminal elements,” Mr Gupta charged.
Mr Hussain raised the issue in Lok Sabha during Question Hour and sought a statement from the government. Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel visited the grief-stricken family and expressed anguish.
BJP’s national secretary Vani Tripathi called for a high level probe into the incident.
She slammed the chief minister for her statement that Delhi is the most unsafe city for women in the country.
