BJP targets Sheila over MCD issue
In a meeting on Wednesday, the Delhi BJP legislative party slammed chief minister Sheila Dikshit for her attack on the functioning of the MCD. The party accused the chief minister of making attempts to defame the civic body.
The BJP legislative party meeting, which was presided over by Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, V.K. Malhotra, accused “almost every department of the Delhi government being neck deep in corruption”. The party also alleged that the chief minister has failed on all fronts.
“The chief minister has only succeeded in misleading the people of Delhi and her government had only aided and abetted unprecedented inflation. Not one of the promises made in the election manifesto of the Congress party has been fulfilled by the chief minister so far. This government has revealed itself to be incompetent, corrupt and anti people,” Prof. Malhotra said.
The BJP legislative party also stated that the Delhi government under the chief minister’s leadership has levied increases in water and power tariffs, sewerage charges, bus and metro fares, essential commodities and VAT by about two to three times and imposed an additional burden of `25,000 crores on the state.
“It will make more sense if the chief minister attends to her own departmental works before getting concerned about the MCD. There is acute water shortage in the city and where it is available it is polluted,” added Prof. Malhotra.
