Blade attack on 2 girls at Mangolpuri
Two girls were attacked with blade in Mangolpuri on Saturday evening. The incident took place around 8.30 pm when a 18-year-old girl, a resident of Mangolpuri, was returning home. She works as a sales executive in Big Bazaar at Saraswati Vihar.
“She was intercepted by the assailants on a TVS Apache motorcycle. The assailant, who was wearing a white jacket, slashed her cheek. The girl was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital,” DCP (outer) Chhaya Sharma said.
The assailants struck within 10 minutes in the area and attacked a girl student, a resident of Sultanpuri, and slashed her lower lip. “The victim started screaming for help following which passersby gathered and made a PCR call,” a senior police official said.
“Both the victims are undergoing treatment at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. We will record their statements on Sunday morning. A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprit,” the official said.

Mercury at 29ºC, to dip after rains

Feb. 5: With the mercury rising further, the citizen shed more woollens as they experienced the warmest day of the season on Saturday with the maximum temperature rising to 29.8 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature was recorded at 11.1º Celsius. The warm spell will give way to “hotter” days before coming down again with rainfall activity over the next three to four days.
According to the weatherman, the maximum temperature on Saturday was 8º Celsius above normal, while the minimum was three degrees above normal.
The Met forecast says that the maximum temperature will go up to 31º Celsius and then dip to 27 degrees.
