Blaze at chemical storage doused
A major fire broke out at a chemicals storage facility in outer Delhi’s Pehladpur Bangar area on Thursday afternoon.
The firemen said the blaze was reported at 3.10 pm and 30 fire tenders were sent to douse the flames. It took them five hours to control the blaze but no casualties were reported. The cause of the fire has not been ascertained so far.
“The facility spread over 1,000 square yards serves as a storage-cum-decanting area. The fire has been contained,” said Delhi Fire Services (DFS) director, A.K. Sharma. In another incident, a fire broke out at in an apparel showroom at South Extension in south Delhi at around 12.10 pm. According to DFS officials, the incident occurred when a motorcycle parked adjacent to the retail showroom caught fire.
“The two-wheelers parked nearby caught fire and the blaze spread to a electricity generator connected to the showroom in D6 block. The fire soon engulfed the ground, first and second floors of the showroom,” said a senior DFS official.
Four fire tenders were rushed to douse the fire and no casualties were reported, said DFS officials.
