Boy, 13, killed in memory card fight

A 13-year-old Class 5 student was beaten to death in Ranhola area of west Delhi.
A police source close to the investigation said that the deceased was attacked by three boys who wanted to rob his phone’s memory card. “The accused thrashed him when he resisted. He suffered severe injuries in his private parts and fell unconscious. The accused then threw him into a canal and fled,” said the source.
Meanwhile, additional commissioner of police (west) V. Renganathan said that the deceased Devender Singh went missing on Friday evening after which his family approached the police. The police found a body which was identified as Devender’s by his family. The police added Section 302 (murder) of the IPC in the missing FIR.
Meanwhile, a couple allegedly tried to commit suicide in Karawal Nagar, northeast Delhi. A senior police official said that the woman Renu, 22, was found hanging while her husband Manish, 24, was found unconscious. They were rushed to hospital where the woman was declared brought dead.
“We have filed a dowry harassment case against Manish. Doctors told us that he was pretending to be unconscious," said a senior police official adding that further investigation in the matter is on.

65-yr-old worker charred in blaze

NEW DELHI, AUG. 24

A 65-year-old man was charred to death in a major fire that broke out in a shoe factory in Narela area of Outer Delhi on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Jawahar, a native of Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. Delhi Fire Service officials said that they got to know about the incident at around 6 am. Immediately, 27 fire engines were sent to the spot to extinguish the fire.
A fire official said, “The fire broke out in a factory, a three story building, and a thick cloud of smoke started emanating. The fire engulfed an adjoining building also. The 27 fire tenders that were pressed into service took two hours to bring the fire under control. The fire was doused by 8.10 am.” The firemen recovered the body of a factory worker from the premises. The body was sent to a nearby hospital for post-mortem.
A team from the local police station visited the spot. The cause of fire was not yet immediately known and further probe is on.
