Boy, 6, charred in night shelter blaze
A six-year-old boy was charred to death in a blaze that broke out at a night-shelter in Meena Bazar area of central Delhi on Thursday morning.
The fire officials said the blaze started at the night-shelter at around 6.15 am on Thursday following which a call was made to Delhi Fire Service,
“Three fire tender were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The body of a six-year-old boy was recovered from the debris but he has not been identified so far,” a fire official said.
The cause of the fire at the shelter meant for orphans is yet to be ascertained and a case has been registered at the Jama Masjid police station.
In another incident, a potential tragedy was averted when a CNG van used for ferrying school children caught fire and was gutted completely near Liberty Cinema in central Delhi on Thursday morning.
The van had dropped the children to a school and was returning when the fire broke out at 8.05 am.
“The vehicle was completely gutted in the incident. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle as soon as it caught fire,” a police official said.
The investigators suspect that a leakage in the CNG kit of the van triggered the blaze.
In another incident, a shop in Daryaganj caught fire at around 3.35 pm on Thursday.
Fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the blaze within minutes. The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained, said fire officials.
