Boy dies of dengue, total cases now 863
The dengue toll in the city climbed to three as a 11-year-boy died on Monday and the total number of cases in the capital reached 863. Meanwhile, Delhi mayor issued a stern warning to the domestic breeding checkers (DBCs) who threaten to go on an indefinite strike from September 6.
The DBCs, who carry out inspection to check for mosquito breeding, are hired on contract basis and are seeking regularisation, besides higher payment.
Municipal health officer Dr N.K. Yadav said that an 11-year-old boy from Narela succumbed to dengue in Jaipur Golden Hospital in north-west Delhi.
The total number of cases in the capital reached 863.
Meanwhile, Delhi mayor P.R. Sawhney appealed to the DBCs not to go on strike. The DBCs were on a token strike on Monday. He also said that disciplinary action will be taken against those who go on strike.
