Bridge work to hit e. Delhi power supply
The residents of east and north Delhi areas will face powercuts for the next two weeks as a major transmission line here will be shut down to facilitate the construction of a bridge in Wazirabad.
The BSES officials said that power supply will be affected in Wazirabad, Geeta Colony, Patparganj and adjoining areas as the 220 KV Mandola line will be under planned shut down from Tuesday till October 17.
The Delhi Transco has confirmed that the shutdown has been necessitated for the construction of the signature bridge linking NH-1 on the western bank of Yamuna with Wazirabad.
“We will have to shift a transmission tower in Wazirabad area for the construction of the bridge. The line will be shut till October 17,” an official of the Delhi Transco said.
The official further said that alternative arrangements are being made to supply power in the areas that would be affected by the shutdown of the transmission line to ensure that the consumers are not hit.
