BSES employee is stabbed to death
A 26-year-old BSES employee was stabbed to death and his six friends, including his younger brother, were grievously injured in east Delhi’s Krishna Nagar area on Wednesday night.
The police said the victim, identified as Gaurav, was stabbed by a number of assailants in retaliation to his repeated attempts to force him into celebrating India’s victory over Pakistan. The six injured include his brother Abhishek, 17, Kuldeep Tomar, 26, Akshay, 29, Neeraj, 19, Shivam, 16 and Sanjeev, 45.
The officials said things turned ugly after a fight broke-out between them and another group, while celebrating India’s victory in last night’s match.
“The residents were celebrating. Gaurav and his friends were among the revellers and insisted that Rajesh and Mahadev, who were passing-by on a motor cycle, join them. However, Rakesh and Mahadev refused and asked Gaurav’s group to mind their own business,” a police official said. “Gaurav’s group took offence and started hurling abuses at Rajesh and Mahadev. A scuffle broke out between the two groups and Gaurav was stabbed in the melee,” said the officer.
