B.Tech. student jumps to death in greater noida
An engineering girl student of Sharda University here allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the fifth floor of hostel on Monday. Shilpi Verma, 24, a student of B.Tech third year, was found lying in a pool of blood early Monday. She was rushed to Sharda Hospital where she was declared dead, the police said. “We have found during preliminary investigation that it is a case of suicide,” SSP (Gautam Budh Nagar) Praveen Kumar Mishra said. “The reasons for her taking the extreme step are very personal and will not be in the interest of the deceased’s public image,” he said.
According to the police, Shilpi was partying in her room on the first floor with friends. They shifted around 4 am to a room on fifth floor after some students objected.
Shilpi’s father Indra Pal Verma, a resident of Yamuna Vihar, Delhi, has alleged that she was murdered. He said Shilpi was not of such temperament that she would commit suicide.

Court sets aside probe report on ramjas ex-vp
New Delhi, May 21: Nearly five years after B.N. Ray was sacked as vice-principal of Ramjas College following the charge of sexual harassment made by some male students, the Delhi high court on Monday set aside the inquiry report on the basis of which action was taken against him.
The HC, however, directed the inquiry committee to prepare a fresh report after permitting the accused to cross examine the witnesses in six months.
A division bench of justices B.D. Ahmed and V.K. Jain allowed Ray’s plea that the inquiry procedure contemplated under the DU Ordinance was violative of Article 14 of the Constitution and unfair and arbitrary as he was not allowed to cross examine the witnesses who had deposed against him.

3 brothers held for duping

The Delhi police has arrested three brothers for allegedly cheating people by promising them admission in medical colleges and jobs in railways. Chandra Bhan, Rajeev Sharma and Vinod Sharma were apprehended on Saturday, ACP (southeast) Ajay Chaudhry said on Monday. Two victims had been pressurising Bhan to return the money he had taken from them on the pretext of providing admission in a medical college and for a job in railways.
