Burglary at residence of late cop
The residence of a former IB official was burgled by in Kirti Nagar, west Delhi, with cash and jewellery worth lakhs reported missing, the police said on Sunday.
The incident took place at the residence of Ajit Singh, 72, who was reportedly a DSP with IB. Singh had passed away on November 27 following which the house was locked, the police said. His wife has died few years back and his three daughters are married and settled with their husbands .
The incident came to light on Sunday morning when Gurwinder Singh, 41, the youngest son-in-law of Singh, arrived at the residence with family members to perform a havan on Sunday following Singh’s death, “The family found both the gates locked but a door inside was broken. They claim that cash and jewellery worth lakhs is missing,” a senior police official said.
Gurwinder runs an electric store in Lawrence Road area. “We have registered a case of theft. A crime investigation team took some samples from the house and they have been sent for forensic examination. The role of an insider can’t be ruled out,” the official said.

Body found in sewer at Shahdara

Dec. 26: The body of an unidentified man was found in a sewer in Shahdara, northeast Delhi, on Sunday morning with the police suspecting it to be a case of murder.
“The victim was wearing a blue trouser with a matching shirt. There were no documents. However, there are injury marks on his body and we suspect that he was murdered somewhere else and his body was dumped here,” a senior police official said.
The police has registered a case of murder at the Shahdara police station and investigation is on. A hue and cry notice has been issued to identify the deceased.
