Bus falls off DND flyway, 12 hurt
At least a dozen BPO employees, including a woman, were injured when the bus they were travelling in fell off the DND flyway in Noida on Thursday evening.
The incident occurred at around 7.15 pm when a bus carrying 20 employees of a BPO, skidded off the main carriageway, broke through the railing and fell off.
“The bus had barely begun climbing the elevation on the DND flyway from Noida side, when the incident occurred,” said senior superintendent of police (Noida), Amitabh Yash. The incident took place 200 metres ahead of the toll plaza on the DND flyover, he said.
Six passengers had sustained serious limb injuries. However, their condition was reported to be stable, though they were still under observation. The condition of the woman, who had sustained serious head injuries, was reported to be critical. The bus was headed towards Maharani Bagh.
The reason behind the incident was yet to be ascertained. The possibility of the driver losing control due to high speed too could not be ruled out. “The driver, Rajiv Yadav, sustained serious injuries and is not in a position to give his statement,” said Mr Yash.
