Cable operator killed by rivals
A 25-year-old cable operator was allegedly battered to death by three rival operators near DDA market in a southwest Delhi locality on Sunday evening.
Police officials said the deceased has been identified as Akash Sharma, a television cable service provider in Dwarka. His badly battered body was spotted outside the main gate of third floor of DDA market in Dwarka Sector 6 at around 6 am by a security guard who alerted the police. Akash and his associate were having liquor with three rival cable service providers. “They possibly entered into an argument which turned into a scuffle in which Akash and his associate were assaulted by the three rivals,” a senior police officer said.
The police said Kumar’s associate, who is recovering at a private medical facility in Dwarka, was also mercilessly beaten up. The doctors said Akash had suffered serious injuries in his head and spinal cord which caused his death. “He died after being assaulted repeatedly on the head with a stone or a bottle,” said the officer.
The police has detained three persons in connection with Kumar’s death. “We have detained three of the deceased person’s acquaintances on the basis of his associate’s testimony and they are being questioned. A case has been registered and further investigations are underway,” said R.S Krishnia, additional CP (southwest).
