The campaign Reservation Express which was launched on May 20, from Jhansi, a city that carries immense historical significance for the women’s struggle, after travelling in 56 cities culminated on Sunday in the capital.
The campaign has been conceived and initiated by Act Now for Harmony and Democracy (ANHAD) and supported by a host of other organisations.
Social activist Shabnam Hashmi, talking to this newspaper over phone, said, “The need of the hour is to mobilise support and raise the demand for 33 per cent reservation from all corners of the country.” “We are against the idea of quota within quota, it is just an excuse to delay the passage of the bill,” she said.
