Can you eat on a Metro train?
Unmindful of the fact that eating and drinking inside Metro station premises, more so in the trains, is not allowed, many passengers utilising the services from Noida, Sector 32 station do not seem to care enough.
Commuters complained that many a times they have seen bottles and wrappers of various eatables and soft drinks lying around the station premises. “I have seen many people open their bags, take out their stuff and eat inside the train,” said Nitin Kumar, a graphic designer, and a daily commuter to and from Uttam Nagar to Noida. He added that some of the passengers, when told that such things are not allowed, did not seem to bother.
One of the reasons could be lack of adequate monitoring staff at the station, which has started functioning only a few months ago. “People keep the eatables in their bags and, once they get a seat, open their boxes and begin eating,” said Mr Kumar.
A couple of DMRC officials, when contacted, said that they were not aware about the problem but would look into it. DMRC chief spokesperson Anuj Dayal could not be contacted.
