CBI books AIIMS official, pvt firm in `1 crore fraud

The CBI on Saturday booked Rajiv Lochan, deputy chief security officer of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and owner of a private company for their alleged role in irregularities committed in awarding contract related to the installation of security equipment at the prestigious medical institute.

According to sources, the CBI has registered a case of alleged cheating and forgery against Rajiv Lochan and Kamaljit Singh, the owner of Janakpuri-based Prehari Protection Services. Immediately after registering case, the agency sleuths conducted searches at the AIIMS.
CBI officials conducted searches at four places, including the house and office of Rajiv Lochan at AIIMS complex and at the official and residential premises of Singh in Janakpuri.
Sources said the matter is of 2009-10 when Prehari Protection Services was allegedly favoured by Lochan in the tendering for providing security guards and installation of security equipment on the premises of the AIIMS.
“Lochan allegedly connived with Singh in extending favours to his company resulting in loss of `1 crore to the exchequer”, sources said.
The agency officials also recovered documents related to the tender process during searches.
