Chaos at Rajiv Chowk station
Police personnel were deployed at the Metro stations to control the rush of passengers when a train stopped ahead of the Rajiv Chowk Metro Station due to a technical fault. Entry into stations like Rajiv Chowk and Kashmere Gate was restricted. At Rajiv Chowk, guards did not allow people alighting from Line 3 (Dwarka Sec. 9-Noida City Centre) to go to the underground platform.
DMRC spokesman, Anuj Dayal said normal services on the corridor resumed around 1.11 pm. However, commuters said the operations resumed at around 2 pm.
During this period, trains were run in a short loop between Jehangirpuri and Kashmere Gate. Two trains were run in short loops between Jehangirpuri and Rajiv Chowk as soon as the affected train cleared Rajiv Chowk, he said.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is going to provide consultancy services for the construction of a high-speed rail corridor in Kerala, between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. An MoU to this effect was signed in New Delhi by the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and DMRC.
This is DMRC’s first ever consultancy project for a high-speed rail corridor and it plans to engage Japanese experts associated with Bullet trains during the study.
As per the MoU, DMRC will provide consultancy services for conducting a pre-feasibility study for the establishment of this 550-km rail corridor.
