Charges against Sajjan will be framed today
A Delhi court will on Wednesday formally frame charges of murder and mob instigation against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
Additional sessions judge Sunita Gupta adjourned the case on Tuesday after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) moved an application pointing a typing error in an order of court.
Counsel for the investigating agency said that Section 339 (wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been mentioned by typing error instead of section 449 (house trespass), one of the charges against Mr Sajjan Kumar.
The court has also asked Mr Kumar to file his response to the application of the CBI which has pointed out typographical error in the order on framing of charges against him in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
The court has granted Mr Kumar the time till May 19 to respond to the CBI’s contention. CBI counsel D.P. Singh, in an application, requested the court to bring changes to rectify the error.
Mr Kumar’s counsel I.U. Khan sought a copy of CBI’s application and requested the court to give it to him to file the reply, which was permitted.
The ASJ had on May 15 ordered framing of charges against Kumar.

Centre told to find place for trust
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI
The Delhi high court has directed the Centre to find a place for a charitable trust which was especially set up to give subsidised medicines to poor patients at the AIIMS.
A division bench comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and S.K. Mishra, after taking a serious view of the non-allotment of space to Surekha public charity trust, said, “If space can be allotted to existing barber shops, tailor shops and beauty parlours, certainly a space/spaces can be allotted for such charitable purpose.” The court also directed the ministry to provide space to the trust.
