Life to man for killing labourer
AGE CORRESPONDENT
NEW DELHI
A city court has awarded life sentence to a man for shooting a person dead on a trivial issue in 2006. In a recent order, additional sessions judge Kamini Lau awarded life sentence to convict Raju, alias Kundan.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs 2.04 lakhs on the convict. Out of this Rs 2 lakhs would have to be paid to the family of the labourer who was shot dead by Raju.
Relying on the testimony of the witnesses and forensic evidence in the case, the court said that it was proved that Raju shot Vikesh, a labourer.
The prosecution had maintained that Vikesh was returning home from his factory after purchasing vegetables from a market at Jehangirpuri in northwest Delhi on November 21, 2006 when he accidentally collided with Raju, who got agitated and abused him. He then pulled out his country-made revolver and shot Vikesh from point blank range.
