Check-in facility on Airport Line begins
The much awaited check-in of baggage facility was launched on the airport express line on Friday. Air India, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines have set up two counters each at both stations where fliers can check-in their baggage and collect the boarding passes.
The other international fliers will also be able to avail the facility soon after proper request is being made.
The facility began at 3 pm at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium. It became operational after four months of the launch of the Airport-New Delhi railway station Metro link.
Passengers can now check-in their bags minimum two hours and maximum six hours prior to their flight time, allowing them more time to go around the city.
Baggage handling and passenger check-in (boarding passes) facility will be available at these two stations and passengers can get their boarding passes at the stations itself.
“The baggage check-in system will give the passengers a hassle free and convenient travel experience,” a spokesman of Reliance Infra said. Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL) is a Reliance Infrastructure-led consortium.
The 23-km Airport Metro, which connects Connaught Place with the IGI Airport in flat 18 minutes, was opened to public on February 23, though the Dhaula Kuan station is yet to be opened.
The airline would also introduce Metro express line city check-ins for its international passengers after getting the requisite clearances from the regulatory authorities.
